SRMHS Engineering and Design students study all aspects of design while applying their creativity to many projects. Students use professional 3D modeling software to create various floor plans for construction and architectural scale models of buildings, bridges, parks, etc., using different architectural styles while collaborating with our Engineering and Design Partners. SRMHS is proud to cultivate internships for students to discover a broad range of career possibilities through experiential learning.
The Magnet course unique to Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School is The Law Lab.
The Law Lab becomes our newest Magnet offering with the goal of increasing civic engagement. Students analyze existing legislation, study the legislative process in North Carolina, and then apply the basic principles of cognitive psychology and behavioral economics to legislative solutions. Students will identify issues in the community and measure public support for proposed solutions. All of this is done with community support, including guest lectures from legislators. The final project involves students crafting an actual piece of legislation that can be sent to the appropriate legislator with the goal of having these bills introduced at the NC General Assembly. The Law Lab will give students hands-on experience in identifying and solving problems in their community.
Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School is home to the Bulldog Catalyst Yearbook. Each year students work diligently to collect moments that take place throughout the school year. These moments become memories of the generation to reflect on and share with their future friends and family.
